FAQ

Your questions, answered clearly.

Everything patients ask us most — about visits, treatments, comfort and cost. Still unsure about something? We're one message away.

Visiting the clinic

How often should I have a check-up?

For most adults, every six months. A routine check-up and hygiene visit twice a year lets us remove tartar, keep your gums healthy and catch any small problem while it's still easy and inexpensive to treat.

Do I need an appointment, or can I walk in?

We work by appointment so you're seen on time and without waiting. You can book by phone, by message, or through the contact form on this site — we reply within one working day. We always keep room for dental emergencies.

I'm nervous about the dentist. How do you help?

Dental anxiety is very common and nothing to be embarrassed about. We take time to explain everything, go at your pace, use gentle modern anaesthesia, and agree a clear stop signal. Many anxious patients tell us their first calm visit changed how they feel completely.

Treatments

Does treatment hurt?

Modern dentistry is far more comfortable than its reputation. We use effective local anaesthesia, and most patients feel only light pressure. Even procedures with a fearsome reputation, like root canals, are routinely done painlessly in a single visit.

How white can my teeth become?

Professional whitening typically lightens teeth by several shades, to a result that still looks natural for you. We assess your starting shade and goals first, because the right target is a smile that suits your face — not an unnaturally bright white.

How long do dental implants last?

With good hygiene and regular check-ups, modern implants commonly last 20 years or more, and often a lifetime. The crown on top may eventually need replacing after many years, but the implant itself is designed to be permanent.

Are X-rays safe?

Yes. Our digital sensors use up to 90% less radiation than old film X-rays, and we only take images when they'll genuinely help your diagnosis. The dose from a routine dental X-ray is very small — comparable to a few hours of natural background radiation.

Children

At what age should my child first visit?

By the first birthday, or within six months of the first tooth. The early visit is gentle and mostly about building comfort, so that your child grows up seeing the dentist as a friendly, familiar place.

Do baby teeth with cavities really need treating?

Yes. Baby teeth hold space for the adult teeth and matter for chewing, speech and confidence. An untreated cavity can cause pain and infection and affect the permanent tooth forming beneath it, so early, gentle care is well worth it.

Payment & planning

How much will my treatment cost?

After your examination we give you a clear, written treatment plan with prices before anything begins — no surprises. Many treatments can be staged over time, and we'll always explain the options so you can choose what's right for you.

Is the first consultation really free?

For treatment planning, yes. We'll listen to what you want, examine you, and explain your options at no cost or obligation. Diagnostic imaging, if needed, is quoted separately and always discussed with you first.
